UCHUMI RESCUE PLAN & LIFTING OF RECEIVERSHIP
Uchumi Supermarkets Ltd reopened between 15th July 2006 and 9th February 2007 under receivership, after closure due to technical insolvency and continued adverse performance over years. Uchumi Rescue Plan (URP) that goes beyond revival to take USL in to strategic and competitive arena within reasonable time was commenced. Since then Uchumi has recorded growth in sales revenue, sustained healthy trading margins, product range and customer numbers have soared remarkably, while the business continues to meet its financial obligation on time.
